Posted 09/14/2014:  On Friday, September 12, 2014, the Palmyra High School Football Team recognized "Military & Public Safety Appreciation Night," at their home game vs. Donegal. South Londonderry Police appeared on the Team's 'Game Day Program' cover, along with a Palmyra Fire Fighter and a US Marine. Several military veterans residing at Traditions of Hershey were also recognized for their service during the Game. The Police Department also extends our thanks to the past and present military service men and women who have served our Country. We also thank our local volunteer Fire Departments and Emergency Medical Service personnel for their dedicated service.

Posted 03/01/2014:  South Londonderry Police are reminding residents not to store expensive valuables in vehicles.  There have been incidents reported nationwide that electronic devices have been developed to defeat vehicle alarm systems, as well as unlock doors.

PTL Nick Ague Makes Sure a Dog Gets Back Home

Posted 08/11/2013:  On Sunday, August 11, 2013, South Londonderry Patrolman Nick Ague went the extra mile to make sure a dog made it back home.  Two dogs had run from a vehicle after it was involved in a crash on the east side of Palmyra.  One was captured.  The other, a German Shepherd, made it across town and past South Lingle Avenue.  Eventually the dog made it to the area of the Lebanon-Dauphin County line where it was found.  The dog was not willing to walk at this point, having suffered injuries to the pads on its paws.  The injuries were presumably from the lengthy run on the asphalt and other terrain.  Facing no other good options, Patrolman Ague carried the dog a long way back to the owner's vehicle.  Our Department salutes his efforts.

Posted 04/22/2013:  The South Londonderry Township Police Department is very pleased to announce that we have hired Patrolman Eric S. Cassel as a full time Police Officer, bringing our total complement to seven Officers, including the Chief of Police.  Eric is a graduate of Annville-Cleona High School and completed the mandatory Act 120 training in the 101st Municipal Police Academy at Harrisburg Area Community College.  Eric was sworn in by Magisterial District Judge Carl Garver on April 22, 2013.

Posted 04/13/2013:  The Cornwall Police Department learned last evening that an elderly West Cornwall Township woman has lost in excess of $100,000 since June 2012 through a series of telemarketing scams. An accurate accounting to determine the total loss will take some time for the family to complete.  Although we will investigate this matter in cooperation with the PA Attorney General's Office, the likelihood of any recovery of funds in slim.
Please remember these points:
* You cannot win a contest you have not entered!
* ANY mention by a caller telling you to "wire" money via Western Union -- is a scam!
* ANY mention by a caller telling you to purchase GREEN DOT MONEY PAK CARDS -- is a scam!

A New Look

Posted 03/07/2013:  The Officers of the Department were recently issued new badges.  Over the years several different styles of badges had been used.  In an effort to create better uniformity and to allow our residents to know what they should be looking for, we went to a whole new badge.

Posted 02/15/2013:  An older West Cornwall Township woman received a telephone call Wednesday afternoon offering her free medical supplies (in her case diabetes testing supplies), but in order to determine if she qualified she needed to provide her medicare account number, which is the same as her social security number with one extra digit. The resident did provide her account number to the caller. This call was a scam; it originated in the Dominican Republic. Never provide such account information to a caller.

Posted 01/22/2013:  There have been a recent series of car break-ins that have occurred in our area.  We are reminding residents to please lock their cars when they are parked and unattended.

Bicycle Helmets

Posted 08/30/2012:  The South Londonderry Township Police Department, along with the assistance of local businesses, were able to raise funds at ‘National Night Out Against Crime’ to purchase bicycle helmets for children in need.  The Police Department will be handing out coupons to children that are riding their bicycles without helmets and who are in need of one.  The coupons can be redeemed at the Police Department for the helmet of their choosing.  The helmets will also be used at bicycle rodeos.
