Permits are required to repair, construct, enlarge, alter, or demolish a building or structure; change the use or occupancy of a building or structure requiring greater strength, exit, or sanitary provisions; or to install or alter any plumbing, electrical, mechanical equipment or systems. In accordance with Act 45 as mandated by the State of Pennsylvania, South Londonderry Township follows the Uniform Construction Code (UCC) as the standard for building, construction, remodeling, and repairs. The intent of the Township's Building Codes and Zoning Laws are to ensure public safety, health, and welfare. An application for a permit is to be filed with the Township and no work shall commence until permit is issued.

Presently, building inspections and plan reviews are completed by a third party agency under contract to the Township. Commonwealth Code Inspection Service are agents of the township and endure that any construction activity taking place meet the requirements set forth in the adopted building codes.

As a reminder, all contractors who perform more than $5,000 of work each year must register their business or themselves with the
Pennsylvania Attorney Generals Office.

Code Ordinance Complaint Form: The Township requires that any code enforcement complaint be submitted to the Township office in writing. It will then be forwarded to the Township Zoning Officer or other appropriate Township official for appropriate action.

Completed Permits or questions related to Zoning or Code issues can be directed to our Zoning / Code Enforcement Department: scott@southlondonderry.org or Fax: (717) 838-4122
