Project Narrative
South Londonderry Township is currently working on a stream restoration and riparian buffer design along a section of the Killinger Creek starting at North Brandt Street and ending at Hinkle Road. The riparian buffer is proposed to be at least 35’ wide on both sides of the stream measured from the top of the streambank and will function to protect the proposed in-stream stabilization structures. The existing trees growing within the riparian buffer will remain, since they are providing protection to the stream corridor. The sanitary sewer and utility easement areas are proposed to be planted with a riparian seed mix of native perennial flowers and grasses. This project is being funded using grant rewards from the PA DEP Growing Greener Grant and the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation.
