Proposed ordinance updates

Proposed updates to the Nuisance Ordinance to consolidate various nuisance ordinances from the past including things like:
  • Updated language making prohibitions clearer
  • Removal of abandoned or junked vehicles within 30 days
  • Updated Noise Prohibitions for nighttime hours (10pm-7am)
  • Updated use of Firearms, Spring or Air Operated Guns (Safety Zone, private property, projectile path across property of another)
  • Provides allowance for Code Enforcement Officer and Police Department to devise a customary practice as a mechanism of enforcement (Code Enforcement Officer or Police)
  • Removes the method of violation notification to property owners, allowing for electronic communication  
​Proposed to update the (Year) 1982 Ordinance to better reflect today’s local enforcement needs.  This would include things like:
  • Update the curfew hours to 11:30pm-5:00am, as opposed to until 6:00am
  • Removes mandatory warning and allows a citation to be issued for a first offense.
  • Removes police protocol from the Ordinance (Taking the juvenile to the Station, filing a report within 24 hours, etc.).  This is covered by Police policy.
  • Simplified the language making prohibitions clearer
Animal Control - All animal control issues are enforced by the South Londonderry Township Police Department pursuant to the Pennsylvania Crimes Code, Title 18 and Local Township Ordinance #164.

Burning Ordinance - Governs opening burning within the Township. 

Curfew - It is unlawful for any person, 17 years of age or under, to be or remain in or about the streets within the Township at night during the period beginning at 11:30 pm and ending at 6:00 am with certain exceptions.

Nuisance Ordinance - The Township Nuisance Ordinance governs overgrown bush, grass, weeds, vegetation, inoperable vehicles, snow, and ice removal.

Onlot Sewage Enforcement - Onlot sewer enforcement is handled by the Lebanon County Planning Department. To file a sewage complaint you must complete their complaint form and submit it to the Planning Department's Office, 400 S. 8th Street, Lebanon.

Property Maintenance Code- providing the standards for supplied utilities and facilities and other physical things and conditions essential to ensure that structures are safe etc.

Solicitation Ordinance & Permit - Governs door to door sales and canvasing of the township. 

Sump Pump Ordinance - Sump pumps are prohibited from discharging into the sanitary sewer system. Please read refer to the ordinance for more information.

Township Park Rules & Regulations - Governs the township parks and recreation spaces.

Trash & Recycling - The Township has adopted Ordinances governing Municipal Waste and recycling within the township.
